Plans are well underway for an exciting event hosted by Newcastle College in partnership with Dance Ahead (Creative Collaboration) and Barcelona International Dance Exchange (BIDE).
As part of a wider project (pending funding) – B>InMotionUK – BIDE will be delivering their first ever UK-based B>Curious programme in Newcastle College Performance Academy in May 2025.
Designed for final year dance students, recent graduates and/or early-career dancers, there is no strict age limit, or barrier around the term ‘early-career’. The programme is open to freelancers and students who feel this will benefit their journey, or provide appropriate CPD at this stage in their career.
B>Curious North East is scheduled to run between 27th May – 1st June in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
This five-day event invites participants to immerse themselves in practical dance exchange and learning through BIDE’s central methodology ‘B>Lab’. The programme aims to aid the daunting transition from training to professional contexts, with focused time to share, reflect, consider the ecosystem within which you work and engage with practical dance research in a non-hierarchical environment. Following four-days of exchange labs and insight into cultural project management, we are planning an industry insight day to close the event, offering opportunities for participants to network and learn from local, national and international industry specialists.
As part of the event, BIDE will be offering 2 scholarships to attend their annual exchange in Barcelona ‘B>Meeting 2026‘.
Places are limited to ensure the best experiences for participants, so we encourage you to register interest as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The participation fee for the five-day event is as follows:
Institutional Group Bookings: £50 per student
Individual Artists: £50
