Are you interested in contemporary dance but don’t have much opportunity, experience or access?
We are offering a FREE opportunity for women/girls (14-100 yrs+) to get involved with Ceyda Tanc Dance Company’s RTDI Community Project.
Led by Cumbria based dance artist Zoë Leigh Gadd (Dance Ahead CIC / Barcelona International Dance Exchange) this exciting project offers a chance for creative expression and intergenerational social connection through a community dance project.
DANCE ROAD TRIP…
As part of this amazing opportunity, supported by the Rural Touring Dance Initiative and Highlights Rural Touring Scheme, we will host a FREE visit for project participants to see Ceyda Tanc Dance perform at Melrose Corn Exchange in October. KIZLAR is an aesthetically driven exploration of femininity and masculinity, strength and vulnerability, creating a visually stunning dance work: A celebration of what it means to be female.
NEW YEAR MOVES…
Between January & March participants will embark on eight FREE dance sessions* with Zoë to create a fun and friendly ‘curtain raiser’ exploring themes from ‘KIZLAR’ to devise our response to the work and what it means to be female for us!
*Sessions will take place near Gilsland and the surrounding area (to be confirmed once we understand participants’ locations) and will be pitched at the level of the group so no dance experience is necessary. *Reasonable expenses are available to cover travel to classes.
SHARING MOVES…
Ceyda Tanc Dance Company will perform their rural touring production of ‘KIZLAR’ in Gilsland Village Hall in March and we will join them to share our short ‘curtain raiser’ to a friendly community audience.
Stage fright?! Fear not…after eight sessions with Zoë you’ll be raring to share your moves.
Step out of your comfort zone and give it a go!
