Presented as part of the 2024 Scarborough Fair Lights Festival, Aquarium of Light transforms the bandstand at the beautiful Sun Court at the Scarborough Spa into a community light installation with themes from the sea. Featuring as its centrepiece a sculpture commissioned from a local artist, Daniel Parker and a backdrop of five large panels, inspired by ideas such as Erosion, Preservation, Rescue and Reflection and produced by local community groups (Gallows Close Centre and YMCA) and young artist Leon Lipiec to create a striking scene.
During the production run, a ten-minute interactive performance created by Dance Ahead brought the Aquarium of Light alive with professional dancers, Haizea Andueza, Aline Simo Kamga and Luis Dunn, lights, soundscapes and music enhancing this magical installation and further exploring themes of the sea.
